About me and my work

The colours, lines, forms and patterns found in nature are the inspirations that drive my work.

"Nature is beautiful in that it appears to say more than it is... artworks become artworks in the production of that 'more'."      Theodore Adorno, Aesthetic Theory.

I paint in a naive "folk art" style in a variety of mediums including paint, print and textiles. I often combine several mediums and processes to build up many layers to create an image which is both intriguing and decorative.

"Man's ideal of Nature is reproduced in Art"  Russell Cotes Gallery and Museum

I have a BA(Hons) degree in Fine Art and an MA in Museum studies, and have worked as a freelance consultant in arts audience development and as a museum cataloguer.  Currently I divide my time between creating in my studio, writing a blog about the Arts, work with the National Trust and a specialist art gallery.  I exhibit my work regularly around the South East and am always pleased to talk about commissioned work.
